First up, you can’t get much nearer than a hotel which is quite literally set within the grounds of the Alhambra Palace. If you’ve never heard of a parador before, allow us to explain.
The name comes from ‘para’ which means to stop or stay and the idea was conceived in 1928 to promote tourism. The concept being that by opening up historical buildings for people to stay overnight in, the proceeds could go towards the upkeep of such places.
There are 94 of these luxury hotels across Spain, all managed by the public company, Paradores de Turismo de España. The Parador de Granada is housed in a 15th century convent with original features including stone archways and exposed wooden beams.

The rooms are modernly but tastefully decorated and completed with antique furnishings. There’s a stunning private courtyard and numerous pretty terraces where you can sit and relax with a refreshment.
There’s also a lovely restaurant serving a range of Andelusian food attached to this Alhambra hotel so you can choose a half or full board stay. A big plus is that private parking is available.

There’s a Mediterranean restaurant on site at the Alhambra Palace Hotel which has a terrace and equally amazing views, especially at sunset with a cocktail in hand.
The bus stop directly outside will take you directly to the most popular parts of the city within minutes. Unfortunately there’s no parking on site. But the hotel does offer an external valet parking service at an extra cost. This needs to be reserved in advance.
